TSDSI organises an Annual TSDSI Technical Deep Dive (TTDD) Conference to bring together technocrats, researchers and standards experts from around the world for discussions on topics related to global standardisation activities, and emerging and futuristic technology trends. The Conference, now in its 5th year has come to be widely acclaimed in the digital communications ecosystem for its choice of topics and the high-quality deliberations.

The 5th edition of the conference, TTDD 2022 was held from 7th  to 10th  November 2022. The theme of the conference was “Standards for Sustainable Development”.

Even as communities in various regions compete for access to the limited resources on the globe to improve their lives, there is an urgent need to regulate such usage for the very preservation of life on earth. The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development provides a blueprint for this.

In today’s information driven age, ICT is recognized as a cross-cutting enabler for the 3 pillars of sustainable development – economic development, social inclusion and environmental protection. At the same time, Digital technologies are evolving rapidly, with AI/ML, haptics, sensing, XR, Quantum etc. opening up newer frontiers.

Standards have played a key role in promoting access to cost effective technologies across markets, an important requirement for Sustainable development. There is a now a need to adopt agile standards development processes in the ICT sector, and at the same time ensure that sustainable development remains at the core.

TSDSI Tech Deep Dive (TTDD) 2022 deliberated on standards for sustainable development in select topics covering 6G, services and solutions for digital inclusion (affordable ubiquitous access), representative applications areas (XR, private networks), broadcast-broadband convergence, and horizontals spanning security, spectrum, interoperability.
The conference inauguration and mega theme session was held in hybrid mode – New Delhi (Jacaranda Hall, India Habitat Centre, Delhi) and online, followed by 9 fully online technical sessions.

The mega theme session will had TSDSI’s global partners talking about their strategies for developing standards for sustainable development in following panels:

  • Leading the 6G Standards to a sustainable future
  • Integrating regional use cases and innovation in Global Standards
  • Harmonization of Standards – Lessons from 5G and Way Ahead
  • Role of Standards in achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)
Areas of common interest that emerged from deliberations in this session are expected to be absorbed into collaboration activities with the relevant partners subsequently.
